About Us

Oxford City Council and Thames Valley Police are working in partnership with businesses across the city to transform them into 'Safe Places' - becoming part of an accessible network of support where anyone feeling intimidated, at risk or scared can take refuge or request support. A range of businesses including city centre pubs, clubs and hotels have signed up to join the scheme.

Whether it’s to seek safety, to call a friend, ask a member of staff to call a cab or even dial 999 - these are places where you will be welcomed and support will be provided.

The Safe Place App is free and can be downloaded from both the App Store and Google Play. The App has 'Get me to my nearest Safe Place' button which immediately directs you to the nearest open Safe Place. If no Safe Place is locations within a 15 minutes walk it will automatically offer to call the Police non-emergency 101 number to get help over the phone.
